Practical Approach to Lung Health in SA (PALSA) Study
The first study we did was a study of a nurse training intervention in the Free State province - the Practical Approach to Lung Health in SA (PALSA) Study. Twenty-five field workers were deployed in groups of three and the 200 questions questionnaire took about 90 minutes to complete. In this case, PDACT was used as an interviewer-administered application.

  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of implementation of the practical approach to lung health (PALSA) in the Free State
  • 25 field workers in the Free State province of South Africa for 6 months during 2003
  • Interviewer-administered questionnaire - 200 questions, daily uploads to remote server in Cape Town (1,000km away)

Schools Survey - South Africa & Tanzania (SATZ) Study
