The MRC Biomedical Informatics Research Division (BIRD), is a division within the Informatics and Knowledge Management Directorate, which specializes in biomedical informatics research associated with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis and developing computerised biomedical informatics systems and applications in association with selected research groups and line functions.

Working within the mission of the MRC and the Informatics and Knowledge Management Directorate, BIRD aims to conduct innovative biomedical informatics research as applied to infectious diseases and to develop useful and innovative biomedical informatics research information systems.
